Why Teach

   I think teaching is the ladder to help people reach their dreams  and helping people build their foundational skills will elevate them to a higher level. One of the teachers that had a massive impact on my math skills and how I think about math was my Geometry teacher, Mr. Kent, in middle school. He had his students practice multiple ways of solving problems, work in groups, and taught his students firmly that it is okay to fail. The last statement I found the most important as learning that failure is a part of learning how to do things, especially math where repetition can be a key factor in understanding problems left quite a lasting impression on me. This helped me re-evaluate math as a subject that I simply just couldn’t fully understand. I wish to do the same and help students reach a level of math comprehension before they attend higher math courses.
